AFTER HOURS MUSIC PROGRAMME 2014


WAKATIPU BASIN ROCK BANDS – Auditions (week 5) Terms 1 - 4
Rehearsals will be either on a Monday and Tuesday at 7:45am – 9:00am or Thursday at 4:00pm – 5:15pm  in the ARROWTOWN SCHOOL BAND ROOM)
Tutor: Karen Neill
Vocalists – Please bring an instrumental backing track with you to accompany your
                   chosen song.  Pop in and see Ms Neill or write your name on the forms in 
                   her room.  MONDAY, 3 MARCH 7.45am in the P.Arts room.

Guitar      - You need to be able to play chords and strum the guitar confidently
                   to audition for a position in a band.  Please bring a backing track to
                   accompany you at the audition. TUESDAY, 4 MARCH 7.45am in the
                   P.Arts room.

Bass         - You need to be able to play the bass confidently to audition for a position
                   in a band. Please bring a backing track with you to accompany you at the 
                   audition. WEDNESDAY, 5 MARCH 7.45am in the P.Arts room.

Drums      - You need to be able to play the drums confidently and in time to audition
for a position in a band. WEDNESDAY, 5 MARCH 7.45am in the   P.Arts room.

Keyboard  - You need to be able to identify the keys on the keyboard to audition for a
                     position in a band. THURSDAY, 5 MARCH 7.45am in the P.Arts rm.

Other         - You need to be able to play the instrument confidently to audition for a
(brass, uke,   position in a band. THURSDAY, 5 MARCH 7.45am in the P.Arts rm.
Violin etc)

The auditions for students from other schools will be held Thursday, 13 March at 4.00pm - 5:15pm.

Wakatipu Kapa Haka Group for children aged 7–13 yr Terms 1-4
(Monday, 6:00pm – 7:30pm ARROWTOWN SCHOOL)
Tutors: Jahmaine Cummings/Mahia Brown/Karen Neill
This is a very exciting and new opportunity for primary school children to join a Wakatipu Basin Kapa Haka group.  This group will be aiming towards entering the regional competitions for their age group this year.

Wakatipu Ukelele Orchestra for 9-13 yr up to 25 students Terms 1-4
(Thursday, 5:15pm – 6:30pm ARROWTOWN SCHOOL)
Tutor: Karen Neill (teachers welcome)
This group will be singing the songs and playing their ukelele.  It is essential that each child have their own ukelele so that they can practice their songs at home and a 20 page clearfile.  Ukeleles can be ordered through the tutor.

Djembe World Drumming for 10-13 yr – up to 6 students Term 4
(Monday, 5:00pm – 6:00pm) ARROWTOWN SCHOOL
Tutor: Karen Neill
This group will be learning to read and play a variety of rhythms from the book “WORLD RHYTHMS 1” Group Drumming Rhythms From Around The World – Rinie Coppelmans Drums will be supplied for the class
